Why Strengths?

Talents are our naturally occuring abilities. When nurtured with knowledge and skills, they become your strengths. As we have more experiences and opportunities throughout our life, our top five strengths may shift.

For instance, someone who has never been in a leadership role may discover their leadership abilities when put in charge of a project.

Learning and growing on personal and professional levels also contribute to a change in strengths. Knowledge acquisition can lead to the discovery or enhancement of a strength. Similarly, consistent practice and effort can turn a learned skill into a strength.

A person might discover a talent for public speaking after joining a debate club or enhancing their problem-solving skills by tackling complex problems at work.

Adaptability is inherent, like strengths. Human beings are resilient and capable of significant change. As we navigate through different phases of life, our strengths adapt accordingly. For example, a naturally empathetic person might find this strength enhanced after experiencing a personal tragedy.

Strengths - natural talent or predisposition toward; promote focus and give you an energy boost when you use them

Skills - capabilities you have developed and also might be things you actually enjoy doing

The High 5 assessment was created as a free version to give more people opportunities to learn about their strengths. The originator of the strengths assessment was Gallup with CliftonStrengths Finder. Clifton has 34 identified strengths that go more in depth. The High 5 is 20 strengths and they seem to have combined some of the Clifton strengths and eliminated others.

I have been doing strengths coaching since 2010. My #1 strength is Maximizer - I get joy from helping others utilize their strengths.

If you are really interested in a deep dive of your strengths, I suggest checking out the CliftonStrengths assessment.
