Principal & Informatics Lead

As a Principal and the Informatics Sector Leader, Doug is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the data analytics group within the Government Human Services Consulting Practice. Informatics is comprised of over 25 data analysts and consultants whose primary responsibility is the analysis of detailed health care data to support actuarial, policy and strategy projects. Doug has an extensive knowledge of encounter, eligibility and claims data, and uses his SAS programming and problem solving skills in supporting client projects with our Informatics Group. 


Before joining Mercer in November 2001, Doug was an analyst with Health Services Advisory Group and was focused on quality improvement projects for state Medicare beneficiaries. He has been in the industry since 1999 and has particular experience in programming, database development, claims data and risk adjustment. His experience in Mercer’s Phoenix office includes:

  • Cost weight development using Medicaid managed care encounter data
